Sistas Organizing to Survive

Sistas Organizing to Survive (SOS) es la movilización básica de mujeres de color en la lucha contra el VIH/SIDA. Inaugurada el 20 de junio de 2008, SOS incentiva a las mujeres de color para que se realicen la prueba en el lugar que viven, trabajan, juegan y practican su religión. El objetivo original de SOS era realizar la prueba a 100,000 mujeres de color por año hasta 2010. En 2008 se realizó la prueba a más de 88,000 mujeres de color. Desde su inauguración, se realizaron ocho conferencias locales de SOS, 4,100 personas juraron en línea y más de 88,000 mujeres de color se realizaron la prueba en 2008. Los objetivos de SOS incluyen:

Educar a las mujeres de color sobre el VIH/SIDA y cómo otras Enfermedades de Transmisión Sexual (ETS), la hepatitis y el abuso de sustancias aumentan el riesgo.
Incentivar a las mujeres de color a asumir la responsabilidad y el control de su salud sexual.
Conectar a las mujeres de color con los recursos para el VIH/SIDA.
Ofrecer herramientas con las cuales las mujeres de color puedan brindar información a otras personas en el lugar que viven, trabajan, juegan y adoran.

It is with love that I pledge to educate black women about HIV/AIDS.
It is my duty to empower black women to take control of their sexual health.
I will commit to connect black women to HIV/AIDS resources.
I pledge to offer tools to enable black women to educate others where they live, work, play, and worship.
I pledge to get tested for HIV and educate my sistas about HIV and encourage them to be tested where they live, work, play, and worship.
It is my duty as a SISTA to ORGANIZE to SURVIVE!
